Liverpool manager Arne Slot has delivered an update on Dominik Szoboszlai ahead of his side’s Premier League clash against Tottenham.

Szoboszlai emerged as a serious doubt for the game in north London after an awkward landing late on against Brighton last weekend required him to receive treatment on the pitch.

The Liverpool midfielder was eventually forced off and replaced by Federico Chiesa for the final seven minutes of normal time plus the eight additional minutes.

In a big boost for the Reds, who will be aiming to record back-to-back Premier League victories for the first time since September, Szoboszlai is back in full training and is expected to feature provided he is fully fit.

Speaking on Friday morning, Slot said: “Dominik [Szoboszlai] trained yesterday for the first time. We'll see where he's at today.

“That completely depends on how well he does today and then we speak to the player and the medical staff.

“If the player feels comfortable and does all the things he needs to do, then he will start.

“Dom would be a starter tomorrow if he's completely fit."

Liverpool, however, will be without Joe Gomez and Cody Gakpo for the trip to the captial, though the latter could soon make a return to action.

Slot added: "He [Cody Gakpo] had a scan that looked promising, so we're not that worried anymore. He might come back earlier than expected, but definitely not tomorrow.

“Joe [Gomez] is not in the squad as well.”

Mohamed Salah is also absent for Liverpool after joining up with the Egypt squad for the Africa Cup of Nations which is taking place in Morocco and kicks-off on Sunday.
