Armed police descend on street after man shot in broad daylight

A man was shot in the leg in broad daylight on a quiet residential street.

Armed police and a large police presence were visible on Saturday, November 30 on Enfield Road, Ellesmere Port after a man was shot in the leg and rushed to Aintree Hospital.

The man is described to be in a serious but not life-threatening condition.

The shooting took place in broad daylight at 2.25pm this afternoon and a Cheshire Police spokesperson said it is not believed to be terror related.

Jordan Woodfin-Gretsy, an employee at Abode Home Interiors told Cheshire Live he retreated into the shop for safety.

He told the publication: “It’s scary - like really scary. It made me shake, it was horrible.”

One witness described hearing a loud bang, while another said they had seen men in a car shooting.

For those with shops inside the cordon, there was a lot of uncertainty as they were not allowed in their premises for a number of hours as investigations took place.

Muntaseer Mahbub, the owner of Sizzlin Spice Indian Restaurant, which was caught up in the cordon said: “I have been waiting since 4pm to open, but we’re not allowed.

"We’ve got loads of preparation to do. I didn’t hear or witness anything.”

Forensics were seen bagging up evidence on Enfield Road and multiple police cars were seen at the cordon.
