Armed officers seize sword, metal pole and hammer after fight in Henbury

Armed officers seized a sword, metal poles and a hammer after being called to a fight in Bristol.

Police were called to reports of a disturbance at 9pm yesterday (Thursday, April 22) at Marissal Road in Henbury.

Armed officers were drafted in following reports that weapons had been used in the incident.

An 18-year-old man was arrested just after 10pm on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

He remains in police custody.

Officers seized a hammer, metal poles and a sword after searching the area.

According to reports on social media, people were asked to stay in their homes during the incident.

Roads were also closed off while police were at the scene.

Enquiries into the incident are continuing.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Police were called about a fight in Marissal Road, Henbury, just before 9pm on Thursday 22 April.

"Following reports that weapons had been used in the incident, armed officers were deployed as a precaution.

"An 18-year-old man was arrested just after 10pm on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon, and remains in police custody.

"Officers seized a hammer, metal poles and a sword after searching the area.

"Enquiries continue, and anyone with information which could help the investigation into the incident is asked to call police."
