Arjen Robben tells Bayern Munich to re-sign him ahead of Man City Champions League tie

Former Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has joked that new boss Thomas Tuchel should sign him ahead of the Champions League tie vs Manchester City.

The ex-Chelsea man enjoyed a superb career in Germany winning the Champions League once as well as eight Bundesliga titles, five German Cups and the Club World Cup. Among his career accomplishments, Robben also boasts a brilliant record against City.

In seven matches, Robben's sides won six and only lost once. These statistics were presented to the Dutch star on FCBtv recently and the 39-year-old wasted no opportunity in offering his services to new manager Thomas Tuchel.

"Yes, then Bayern should sign me again, Thomas Tuchel can call me at any time," he laughed. "No, jokes aside, that’s no longer possible."

"I mostly have good memories [vs City]," he continued. "The first that comes to mind is the 3-1 away win with Bayern in the 2013 Champions League.

"That was an absolutely top game from us. In general, the atmosphere in England is nice with the fans, playing there is always special.

"It’s definitely a top game, it could have been the final. It’s going to be very interesting and I’m looking forward to watching it."

City's meeting with Bayern this month will see a couple of reunions take place. Leroy Sane enjoyed a successful four years at the Etihad Stadium before leaving the club in 2020 for Bavaria.

Joao Cancelo will also return to Manchester on Tuesday night for the first time since his loan departure in January. Unlike in the Premier League, the Portuguese full-back will be eligible for selection by Tuchel despite still being contracted to the Blues.
