Argenton Public School students dress as centenarians to celebrate 100 days of learning

Growing up: Aurilia, Violet, Jacky, Jazell and Sophie dressed up for the day of activities, which was aimed at building maths skills, social skills and wellbeing.

ARGENTON Public School's 50 students have relished dressing up as centenarians for their 100 Days Smarter Party.

Principal Simon Dunn said the school was a sea of silver hair spray, wigs and hair rollers, shawls, suspenders, pyjamas, make up wrinkles and walking sticks for the day of activities, which included several about the number 100, bingo, indoor bowls and using an aging photo app.

"It's for our students beginning school and it's a way of building their maths skills by doing a countdown towards 100 and it's a celebration we've completed 100 days of school," he said.

"It gives them another reason to be engaged in school, it's still learning based activities but done in a fun way.

"It's a chance to work with peers who aren't in their class so it helps them build social relationships across the school as well."
