If you left the cinema after Spider-Man: Brand New Day wondering ‘WTF was that end credit scene?’, you’re one of many. Like many Marvel post-credit scenes, they’re riddled with symbolism and Easter eggs, but will hardly ever tell you outright what’s going on. One TikToker (and ex-Love Island star) Rachael Evren has conjured up a theory that holds its weight and explains a lot.
But first, let’s unpack that end credits scene together, shall we?
What happens in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day end credits?
Is the end credits scene feeling a little hazy after the antics of the weekend? Allow me to rejog your memory.
The Spidey Tracker — the app Ned (Jacob Batalon) developed in the film for people to log their Spider-Man sightings, detects Spider-Man is within range, but can’t pinpoint his exact location. The Spider-Man icon keeps on moving, before leaving earth and entering outer space, where the app then reads ‘location found’.
Then, the screen goes black, with the classic message that ‘Spider-Man will return’. However it isn’t specified when or in what film.
A lot of fans think that this means Tom Holland will be making a surprise appearance in Avengers: Doomsday, as he hasn’t been announced in the star-studded lineup. Other fans think that it’ll be the OG Spider-Man, Toby Maguire, who will be returning to the franchise and heading to space in the upcoming film.
But Evren’s theory is a whole lot more sound, IMO.
The Spiderman: Brand New Day end credits explained
Rach Evren’s theory — which has almost reached 800K views at the time of wiitng — has gone gang busters on TikTok becuase she’s pointed out a very interesting detail that the rest of us have seemed to have missed.
She kicks the video off by bringing up Holland’s recent statement about how he has a “really clear vision for the passing of the baton”, AKA for when he gives up the mask and his spidey senses and hands it over to the next Spider-Man in the huuuuge spider-verse.
He said that he’s discussed it with both Sony and Marvel, so, it might mean that our time with the latest Peter Parker we’ve grown to know and love is coming to an end some time in the next few years. IDK about you, but I’m not ready for that.
While everyone is is focussing on the little spidey icon leaving earth and travelling into space, Evren points out one key detail most of us didn’t even register: the glitches.
“For those who don’t remember Across The Spider-Verse, Miles Morales was glitching when his body was in a multi-verse that his autonomy didn’t belong in without one of those bracelets of course,” she explained.
She then goes on to point out that in the Spider-Man: Brand New Day end credits scene, the colour of the glitches are the exact same as Miles’ glitches in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. DO YOU SEE WHERE SHE’S GOING?!
“There are two of those glitches in the end credits scene and maybe it’s a coincidence or maybe they have purposefully put these glitches in the end credits scene to match the exact same colour scheme as Miles Morales to tell us something!” she said.
So does that mean Miles Morales is going to be in the an upcoming Spider-Man film that’s NOT part of the Spider-Verse series?!? Maybe. Remember that scene in the film with the little kid on his dad’s shoulders, the one Peter Parker makes eye contact with in the crowd? They seem to pause on each other for a moment too long for it to be a coincidence. Why would they just be showing a random kid? There could certainly be some significance there.
Evren continues her theory to say that while it may or may not be Miles, someone from his multiverse might be making an incursion to planet Earth, and that this is what will officially kick off the secret wars.
“It is the collision of two multiverses that leads us into battle worlds,” she pointed out. And if you’re not a Marvel nerd and have no idea what that means, Battle Worlds is a patchwork planet stitched together from the remnants of destroyed universes. It’s also the setting for the two upcoming Avengers films: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
“I think we’re getting Miles Morales,” she finished her video in a squeal. SAME GIRL, SAME.

If she’s right, this is some VERY big potato stuff.
People in the comments seemed to have mixed emotions about Holland passing the baton onto someone else. While some people are eager to see Miles Morales’ story take shape in a non-animated world, many fans aren’t ready to give up Tom Holland as Spiderman just yet.
“I would like miles but after the ending of brand new day we need a spiderman five honestly,” one user wrote.
“It’s 100 per cent miles and I will die on that hill!” said another.
“The end credit scene is relating to Toby in Doomsday, Tom still has two Spiderman movies to do yet so passing the batton isn’t in motion yet,” another argued.
Some fans were also right to point out that Sony is preventing Marvel from introducing Miles Morales into the MCU until the Spide-Verse trilogy is complete. However, what they may have forgotten is that the third film, Beyond The Spider-Verse, is being released next year. So maybe the wheels are being set in motion, just super slowly.
