Are Pride of Britain awards live? Carol Vorderman back to host annual event

The Pride of Britain awards are back on Sunday night with an emotional night in store.

This year's event will be very different to normal due the coronavirus pandemic, with the usually glittering awards event at the Grovesnor Hotel in London scrapped and trophies taken around the country to the recipients in the hands of famous faces like Ashley Banjo, Marcus Rashford and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

The 2020 awards will go out on ITV at 9pm on Sunday, November 1, but just like many other shows on the channelin recent times like Britain's Got Talent, they won't be live.

Carol Vorderman will host them once again with Boris Johnson, Olly Murs, Paloma Faith and Captain Tom Moore also set to feature.

While the show itself will take a different formula to Pride of Britain ceremonies in years gone by, it never usually airs live anyway, with the awards typically filmed up to a week in advance of being show on TV.

The sections of tonight's awards showing winners receiving their accolades were filmed at different times, while a host of stars, also including This Morning host Holly Willoughby and GMB presenter Susanna Reid, headed The Royal Chelsea Hospital last week to film links and announce the winners.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain awards are always a tear jerking watch as heroes who have gone above and beyond the call of duty are honoured, with exceptionally brave children also recognised.

This year's ceremony will also shine the light of the heroes of the pandemic.
