The Manning name is legendary when it comes to the quarterback position. Archie Manning had a Hall of Fame career with the New Orleans Saints. His son, Peyton, is also headed that way, and his other, Eli, has two Super Bowls to his credit and also has a shot at being enshrined.
Now comes the next Manning that could be next in line, and he seems to have Ohio State on his radar.
Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli — and grandson of Archie — is already listed as a five-star prospect in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He lives in New Orleans and has already drawn significant interest from the blue-bloods of college football. It’s early, but he’s the top-ranked quarterback in the class as of right now out of Isidore Newman.
According to 247Sports Steve Wiltfong, Manning’s father Cooper says his son has visits planned to Clemson, SMU, Texas, Alabama, and Georgia in June. But that’s not all. After that, he hopes to schedule visits to Stanford, USC, Notre Dame, and Ohio State. It may not all happen in June, but the hope is to schedule them soon.
“He’s been enjoying getting to know these schools from other parts of the country,” Cooper Manning told Wiltfong. “You kind of knock out what’s close to you and he’s enjoyed having conversations with Notre Dame, Ohio State, Stanford and USC. They just kind of came on the scene in the last month or so, the last few months.”
OK. Well, at least the Buckeyes seem to have their foot in the door. Manning has been fairly private with his recruitment, and who can blame him since he’s in the 2023 class, but there doesn’t appear to be a clear favorite at the moment. You’d have to think the teams close to home are high on the list, and then go from there.
There’s still a long way to go on this process, but we’ll stay on top of it as more news emerges on where Manning is leaning.
