Arab League Calls for International Pressure against ‘Israeli Crimes’

Saeed Abu Ali, Arab League assistant secretary-general for Palestinian affairs and occupied Arab territories, said on Tuesday effective international action is required to put more pressure on Israel to stop the violations and crimes against the Palestinians.

He made his remarks at the 31st joint meeting between UNRWA education officials and the Council for Educational Affairs for the Sons of Palestine.

The official called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and act effectively to put pressure on Israel to stop the practices and crimes against the Palestinian people.

He further urged it to provide protection for the Palestinians and enable them to exercise their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

This is a natural, historical, and legal right, the secretary general stressed.

Abu Ali stressed that it is time that Israeli occupation ends, enabling the Palestinians to practice their rights and the international community to implement its resolutions.

This would allow the region to build peace and stability, and to defeat terrorism and violence.

He urged the activation of the peace process under the supervision of the international community and based on international law, international legitimacy resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative to end the occupation and implement the two-state solution.
