The Saudi-led Arab coalition announced on Monday that the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen had used a Cruise missile in their attack against Abha Airport a day earlier that left one Syrian resident dead.
Dozens of civilians were also wounded in the attack that drew wide Arab condemnation.
Coalition spokesman Colonel Turki al-Maliki said that the Houthis have been suffering heavy losses in Yemen and were therefore retaliating by deliberately targeting civilians and civilian facilities in Saudi Arabia.
The alliance will continue to forge forward in destroying channels for the armament of the Houthis by land, air and sea, he told a press conference in Riyadh.
He added that the Houthis have been receiving sophisticated weapons smuggled from Iran, citing their use of the Ababeel drones as evidence of Tehran’s support.
