Aqib Talib not ‘fully back’ from hamstring tweak but will be ready for Week 1

Teams don’t have to report injuries to the media or league until next week, which sometimes makes it difficult to determine how injured some players are. Aqib Talib tweaked his hamstring a couple weeks ago and there hasn’t been much of an update on his status.

On Monday, Sean McVay said Talib is still recovering from the injury and isn’t fully healthy yet. He’s taken part in practice, but he hasn’t been a full participant since the injury occurred.

“We’re building him back in. He’s done some stuff. To say that he’s fully back in it – we’re not at that point yet, but he worked out before the game,” McVay said. “He’s feeling good and we anticipate him resuming truly full participation at some point this week. He’s been a participant and just hasn’t been a full participant yet.”

Talib is someone who regularly deals with injuries. He’s never played a full season in his career and missed eight games last year due to an ankle injury. Granted, some of the games he’s missed in his career were due to suspension, but he’s also had his share of injuries.

Getting Talib fully healthy for Week 1 is the top priority. He has a week and a half to get ready for the regular season, which kicks off on Sunday, Sept. 8 at 1 p.m. ET against the Panthers.
