Apprentice fans said the same thing after dog food task failed to get tails wagging

Fans of BBC One’s The Apprentice have all said the same thing after sales representative Simba Rwambiwa became the latest candidate to leave the show. This week saw the six contestants attempting to make and market their own dog food brand.

Led by cafe owner Megan Hornby, team Apex opted for an insect-based food, which they branded as pro-paw. While Affinity, led by project manager Rochelle Anthony opted for a gourmet approach branded as “Chef Barking”.

The road to making the product however may not have been as smooth as candidates wanted with both teams clashing over the branding, and finding themselves in hot water over their design. Neither team left tails wagging at focus groups either.

Chef Barking was criticised for its low meat content, despite being branded as a premium product. While Pro-Paw was criticised for its overall branding.

Ultimately neither team secured any orders from the big brand chain they pitched to. But team Affinity received a small order from a High Street chain, landing them the eventual win.

It meant project manager Megan, Simba, and Dani Donovan faced off in the boardroom. With Simba complaining Dani ignored his feedback during the task.

Delivering a stinging summary of the trio’s performance, Lord Sugar said: “Simba, if you don’t say anything worth listening to then are you someone who could qualify to be my business partner? Megan, what you produced is total garbage, it’s the product, it’s what the dogs are supposed to eat and it’s inedible.

“Dani, you can talk a thousand miles an hour and say you’re great at marketing but I haven't seen it. That’s where I'm torn.

“But they say every dog has its day, and sadly, Simba it’s not your day. It is with regret that you're fired.”

Simba added: “I have really enjoyed the process and learnt so much about business.”

Fans however felt hard done by for Simba as he failed to make it through to the final five. Sharing a picture of the Lion King, @Gareth_JonesPR said: “The greatest betrayal of Simba since this happened.”

While @ghostface196 said: “This is robbery at its finest. Simba, don't worry, you’ll always be a winner.”

@DavidMackayy said: “Now WHY would you get rid of Simba and not Dani???” While @HodderShal added: “#TheApprentice so disappointed with that result, Simba was robbed”
