Application for new 'Dessert Cafe' on Byres Road

Planners at Glasgow City Council are currently considering an application for a new 'Dessert Cafe' on Byres Road.

Proposals submitted this week state the intention to turn the former Western Union Money Shop at 153 Byres Road into a cafe, in the heart of Glasgow's west end.

The application, submitted under the name of 'Sugarfall', says: "We want to open a Dessert Cafe, which will include a variety of desserts like cakes, cupcakes and other patisserie desserts.

"We will sell some cold sandwiches as well.

"As we change the [use] class, we would like to have oven at our property. We need to extend ventilation flue through the window so the fumes would go outside."

Meanwhile, hours of operation would be Monday - Friday, 9am to 4pm/5pm, Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

As linked by an address in the planning papers, SugarFall Bakery currently operates in the east end of Glasgow, at 31 Tobago Place in Calton.

The application is currently being assessed by the Glasgow City Council planning department.
