Appeal for information over man missing in Belfast for three days

Police in North Belfast say that they are growing increasingly concerned for the well being of Thomas Mongan, who has been missing from his home in Belfast for three days now.

They say that Mr Mongan was last seen on Thursday, September 22 in the area of Beechmount Walk, Belfast. The man is described as 37 years of age, 5ft 9in tall, of slim build, with dark hair, a short beard and moustache. When last seen it was reported he was wearing a grey tracksuit.

In an appeal put out on Facebook, the police stated: "If you have any information on the whereabouts of Thomas please contact on the non-energency number of 101 quoting reference 1981 of 23/09/22."

According to the charity Missing People, somebody is reported missing every 90 seconds in the UK, equating to a total of 170,000 people. Of that number, more than 70,000 are children and almost 98,000 are adults.

The charity also states that 80 per cent of children are found within the first 24 hours of being reported missing and 90 per cent are found within two days, while two per cent are not found in the first week. For adults, the respective figures are 75 per cent, 85 per cent and five per cent.
