Aoun: Lebanon Keen on Establishing Best Ties with Saudi Arabia

Lebanese President Michel Aoun. (Reuters)

Lebanese President Michel Aoun said on Saturday that Lebanon was keen on achieving the best of ties with Saudi Arabia.

The Kingdom on Friday recalled its ambassador in Beirut and expelled the Lebanese ambassador in Riyadh in wake of offensive comments against Saudi Arabia made by Lebanese Information Minister George Kordahi.

In a tweet, Aoun said: “We are keen on establishing the best of relations with the Kingdom and consolidating them through bilateral agreements.”

Saudi Arabia’s move was followed by similar ones by Kuwait and Bahrain, which both expelled the Lebanese ambassador and recalled their envoys in Beirut in solidarity with the Kingdom.
