Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC) said she believes there could be a "blue wave" in next year's midterms as Republicans come under fire over affordability pressures.
Speaking to CNN, the lawmaker said "we're looking that there could be a cycle where R+10 seats flip to Democrats," adding that "if Republicans want to draw a map that makes them more vulnerable to that, that's their decision to do that.

Asked specifically if she believes there could be a "blue wave" next year, she said: "I think so."
A recent poll released by Politico noted that almost half of all respondents said groceries, utility bills, health care, housing and transportation increasingly difficult to afford. Moreover, 27% said they skipped a medical check-up within the past two years due to the cost. 23% said they skipped a prescription dose as a result.
Respondents are also reducing their leisure activities: more than a half (37%) said they couldn't afford to attend a professional sporting event with family or friends, and 46% said they couldn't pay for a vacation involving air travel.
President Donald Trump, however, said "prices are all coming down" and has given the economy an "A+++++" grade in a recent interview with the same outlet.
Many respondents don't believe Trump's tariffs are helping the country's economy. 22% of Trump voters in the last election said they are helping it now and in the long term. Moreover, only 36% of them said tariffs are hurting the economy now but will benefit the U.S. in the long run.
Democrats have won several elections throughout the year, and former Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins won Miami's mayoral runoff election on Tuesday, marking the first time in almost 30 that the city elected a Democrat. She got 59% of the vote, compared to former Miami City Manager Emilio Gonzale's 41%.
Leaving Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene recently said the GOP are set to lose the midterms next year, largely as a result of affordability issues.
"I do believe at this time that Republicans will lose the midterms, and I think that's unfortunate," Greene said in an interview with CBS News.
