Antonio Valencia drops major hint over next club amid Arsenal transfer interest

Arsenal look set to miss out on summer target Antonio Valencia after the Manchester United outcast hinted he will reunite with Wayne Rooney in America.

The 33-year-old has made only five appearances in the Premier League during this campaign after struggling with injuries.

His contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in the summer, and United are yet to nail him down to a new deal.

That has increased the likelihood of the cult hero leaving for free at the end of the season, with his dad recently revealing he had an offer from an unnamed Major League Soccer club.

Man Utd squad vs Barcelona revealed as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sweats on key duo

While West Ham , Inter Milan and Arsenal have previously been linked with the reliable right-back, Luis Valencia suggested a move to the MLS could be on the horizon.

And it seems that unnamed team is DC United, with Valencia suggesting he could link-up with former United team-mate Rooney in Washington.

Valencia retweeted and liked a post from a supporter who had quote-tweeted a report from Ecuador.

The article read: “Based on a special request from one of them, the Manchester United goalscoring duo will become a reality again in the capital of the United States. Two-year contract about to be finalised with D.C. United.”

Last month, Valencia's father's appeared to confirm that right-back will be off to pastures new at the end of the season, but he could yet remain in England.

Speaking to the media in Ecuador, Luis said: "He will definitely not continue in Manchester.

“He wants a change in the air and the club is not going to renew [his contract] either. Like everything in life, everything comes to an end."
