Antonio Conte's reasons for furious tirade as he issues Tottenham quit threat

Antonio Conte has thrown his future as Spurs boss into doubt after a "disaster" defeat to Burnley.

The Italian coach launched a tirade at the situation he is facing following four defeats in five league games.

Conte revealed he will seek talks with Daniel Levy about the team, and himself, saying he is facing a crisis he’s not dealt with before and maybe isn’t up to the job.

And he warned Spurs could end up battling relegation, or finishing “12th or 13th…” if they play like they did at Turf Moor.

Fuming Conte said: “No one expect this type of situation, the club, the players, the fans. I came in to try to improve the situation with Tottenham and maybe I am not so good to improve the situation. It is very frustrating.

“It is the right moment to see this situation well, and make an assessment. I am really frustrated.

"I am not used to facing this type of situation. I try to do everything to change it, but the situation is not changing.

“I am too honest to close my eyes.

“Maybe there is something wrong. I will take my responsibility. I am open. I want to help, not just take my salary.

“Someone has to speak about the race for fourth place but really we have to pay attention to not fight to avoid the relegation.

‘This is the first time in my life. Maybe I am not so good. Spurs called me to improve the situation . I want to finish the season, my salary is good, but I am not this type of person. I have ambition.

“I hate to lose. We lost FOUR games in the last five. This is unacceptable. If we continue this way, maybe we finish tenth, 12, 13th. I think no-one deserves this type of situation."

Burnley boss Sean Dyche was delighted to see his side record back-to-back wins after the weekend triumph at Brighton.

" It's been difficult all season talking about fine margins," said Dyche. "We've not been far away all season. Now we are beginning to get the details right.

"People are ready to play and taking on the challenge. I never overthought the table. Not because I am naïve. I believe in the players. When we are right we can compete with everyone. Statistically we are strong during the second-half of the season.

"I know what we do and how we do it. I have great trust in our players. After the Leeds game, we agreed it wasn’t us.

"Our focus is on us. That won’t change. Every season is a tough season for us. Nine points out of six games, including four against the top four. Could we back up the display from Brighton. I was very pleased with that."
