Antonio Conte delivers verdict on vision as Tottenham could be set for £84m transfer windfall

Here is your Tottenham Hotspur morning digest for Thursday, January 20.

Conte's vision

Spurs head coach Antonio Conte has opened up on his targets for the rest of the season.

Speaking after his side defeated Leicester City 3-2, he said: "Honestly, I think I have already spoken about my vision. In this moment I think we are in a good position in the table but we know it’ll be very difficult to keep this position and try to fight for something important.

"We have to try to continue to work, to improve and if there is the possibility in this transfer market to improve also numerically the number of this squad it will be very important because we need to try to.

"We know very well we have to fight against every team in England. In England the level is very high. It was good to have this run of nine games and for this reason now we’re seeing Tottenham in this position in the table."

Crouch's verdict

Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch has heaped praise on Antonio Conte, claiming that the Italian has improved the Lillywhites' defence massively.

"Defensively it has been a lot better," Crouch explained during BT Sport's coverage of Tottenham's clash with Leicester City.

"Results are the most important thing and he has not lost in the Premier League this season but there have been times where it has been disappointing in the Europa Conference League, but it has been much better.

"I think there is a clear plan, under Nuno you couldn’t see what he was trying to achieve but since Conte's come in, you can see with the running stats, you can see there is a clear plan and a clear shape and there seems to be a direction which is all Spurs fans wanted."

Transfer windfall

The north Londoners could be in line for a huge cash injection this month should they sell the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Matt Doherty, Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn, who are all thought to be on the way out according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

Should the aforementioned four depart the club before the end of the window, then Conte's side could potentially be set to scoop a considerable amount, with transfermarkt valuing the quartet at £84million.
