Antonio Conte 'comes to decision' over replacing Nuno Espirito Santo as Tottenham boss

Antonio Conte has reportedly agreed to become the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Chelsea and Inter Milan boss had been locked in talks with the Spurs hierarchy after Nuno Espirito Santo was sacked on Monday.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Conte has verbally agreed a contract until June 2023 to take over the north London club and the deal is set to be signed on Tuesday.

Managing director of football Fabio Paratici originally wanted Conte last June to replace Jose Mourinho, and has seemingly convinced the 52-year-old to take up the project at Tottenham.

Conte, who led Inter Milan to their first title in 11 years, has been out of work since leaving the San Siro in May.

The Italian has enjoyed a successful career in management thus far, winning three successive Serie A titles with Juventus between 2011-2014.

He also spent two seasons in England managing Chelsea, winning the Premier League in 2017, finishing seven points clear of runners’ up Spurs in the process.

The following season he won the FA Cup, but was sacked by the Blues that summer after missing out on Champions League qualification.

Tottenham relieved Espirito Santo of his duties on Monday morning, after their 3-0 home defeat to Manchester United at the weekend.

Spurs fans finally turned on their former boss after his decision to withdraw Lucas Moura was met with a chorus of boos and chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’.

The Portuguese manager left the Lilywhites ninth in the table, having won five and lost five of their opening 10 Premier League games.
