Anthony Davis takes home Western Conference Player of the Week

Life is good for the Los Angeles Lakers and even though he’s being asked to do a little bit less than he was at his previous stop in New Orleans, Anthony Davis is reaping the individual benefits of his move to Los Angeles along with some winning basketball.

Davis was named the NBA’s Western Conference player of the week for Oct. 28-Nov. 3, while Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, the league’s reigning MVP, took home the honor for the Eastern Conference. It was the first time a Laker won the honor since Kobe Bryant did it in April of 2013.

Over the Lakers three games last week, Davis averaged 32 points, 13 rebounds, 2.7 blocks and two assists per game. He also had the first 40-20 game in Lakers history since Shaquille O’Neal in 2003. Davis is also tied for the lead league in blocks with Detroit’s Andre Drummond, notching 18 blocks in the first six games. He’s also been reasonably efficient despite shooting 11 percent from 3 last week.

Davis has been an absolute monster on both ends and his commitment to pushing LeBron James on the defensive end can’t be discounted when discussing the Lakers league-leading marks on that end.
