Ant Middleton hits out at Channel 4 on GMB after broadcaster axes him over 'personal conduct'

Ant Middleton has hit out at Channel 4 after he was axed from SAS: Who Dares Wins due to 'personal conduct'.

The broadcaster said it will not work with the star again because their 'views and values are not aligned'.

Middleton, 40, told Good Morning Britain on Wednesday: “It’s all smoke and mirrors.

“From the last episode of SAS: Who Dares Wins, when I filmed the last episode, it became a half-scripted sort of reality show, full control was taken from me for health and safety.

“And after that show, I said ‘I’m not going to film anymore, I’m done with SAS: Who Dares Wins’.”

He told the ITV programme: “I wanted to part in a healthy way and in a positive way. And they knew that I was going…

“And all a sudden they dropped this bomb… (that) I’ve been axed. And ultimately what they’re doing is they’re protecting their brand.”

The former solider came under fire last year for his tweets following the Black Lives Matter protests, where he was later removed from Soccer Aid.

Middleton had also told people to ignore safety measures implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic.

His comments on Wednesday come after Channel 4 made a statement on Monday night announcing that Middleton was dropped from the show.

The broadcaster said: "Ant Middleton will not be taking part in future series of SAS: Who Dares Wins. Following a number of discussions Channel 4 and Minnow Films have had with him in relation to his personal conduct it has become clear that our views and values are not aligned and we will not be working with him again."

Middleton then tweeted: "After 5 incredible years I’ve decided it’s time to move on from SAS Who Dares Wins UK. Big respect to my fellow DS – it's been a journey I’ll never forget.

"Thanks to everyone that took part and made the show what it is. Really excited about the future and what’s coming this year."

On Tuesday he teased that 'all would be revealed' after GMB host Piers Morgan tweeted a picture of the pair together, writing: "Absurd that Channel 4 fired @antmiddleton for his opinions. He's an SBS special forces war hero, what did they think they were hiring – a shrinking violet choirboy?

"Such a spineless surrender to the PC Police. Ant's a top bloke – when he's not strangling me."

Ant replied: "Fired??? All will be revealed. See you soon."
