Ant and Dec viewers blown away with 'amazing' drag queen transformation

Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly returned to our screens with Saturday Night Takeaway last night - and fans were blown away.

The duo took part in an end of show special which saw them have an "incredible" makeover in order to take part in RuPaul's Drag Race special 'end of the show show', as RuPaul introduced three winners of the show for a performance.

Ant and Dec transformed into drag to join the performance and become The Ladies of the North, with Ant as Lady Antoinette and and Dec as Miss Donna Lee, the Mirror reports.

During the performance they sang about being the 'angels of the North', they joined Drag Race UK stars The Vivienne, Lawrence Chaney and Krystal Versace for an epic musical number.

Viewers raced to Twitter to share their reactions - and the hosts certainly won over fans with their new looks.

One fan said: "Ant & Dec in full on Drag is one of the best things I've seen on TV!!"

Another tweeted: "#antanddec in drag blew my mind tonight. They looked amazing."

A third commented: "ngl absolutely reeling from @antanddec as drag queens on #SaturdayNightTakeaway like. that has got to be the highlight of my life."

Meanwhile a fourth viewer said: "what a show… boys I adored that episode so much. So glad to have you back on the telly. Also kudos to you for going full drag. Loved it! can’t wait for next week!"

A fifth fan tweeted: "Amazing performance and the both of you look incredible in drag."

Saturday Night Takeaway returned this weekend with some big changes from the last series.

The live audience was welcomed back with open arms, after the boys had to ditch the crowd last year for social distancing, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Ant and Dec were visibly taken aback, as the crowd roared for them as they sped down to the stage.

As they cheered the return of the hosts and their hit ITV show, Ant was quick to say how thankful he was to have real people back in the studio.

There hasn't been a live audience for a full series since 2018, with the ITV show off air in 2019 and then having to ditch in-studio viewers for the following two years due to social distancing.

Part of the 2020 series was with an audience, before the hosts had to host the final episodes from their homes.

As the guys raced down and greeted studio audience members, they reached the bottom and looked visibly shocked.

Ant began gasping before gesturing to Dec, who joked they all seemed a little drunk.

Host Ant said: "Listen, that sounds great, the first live audience in almost two years.

"Oh we have missed you honestly, we have missed you. Look at them all Dec, so full of life."

Dec joked: "Full of Prosecco by the sounds of it, sit yourselves down!"

The pair looked moved by such a warm reaction from their fans, before Ant later added: "We love having our audience back in studio!"

Saturday Night Takeaway airs Saturdays at 7pm on ITV.
