Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway future confirmed with final song lyric

Ant and Dec confirmed Saturday Night Takeaway's future with one of their final remarks of the show's new series.

The Geordie presenters have pulled in audiences of millions every weekend for the past few months, with Takeaway enjoying a return to its hey-day, after two years of disruption due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2020, having been forced to host the ITV show without a crowd one week, Ant and Dec then had to host the final two shows of that series separately from their living rooms, after the country was plunged into the first national lockdown.

While tight restrictions were still in place at the start of last year, Saturday Night Takeaway did return but, once again Ant and Dec were minus a studio audience, with bosses bringing in a huge video wall featuring viewers at home. This year, with Covid rules now a thing of the past, the programme has been allowed to fire on all cylinders.

There has been a packed crowd every week, with regular contributors Andi Peters, Fleur East and Jordan North travelling up and down the country to present on location pieces and the studio being graced by the presence of star guests including Michael Buble and Sam Fender.

Ant and Dec wrapped up the seven episode long series on Saturday night and, having kept the contents of the End of the Show Show under wraps, it ended up being an homage to this year's run, to the music of the Can Can. The couple who got married live on the show got married made an appearance as did a number of viewers who's been tweeting their thoughts on the programme.

As the song neared its climax and Ant and Dec got right into the spirit of things with some high kicks, they performed a line which saw ears prick up in living rooms across the UK, when they sang: "We'll miss you, even shed a tear. Time to go, see you all next year."

As well as being delighted to hear the show will definitely be back, some viewers made a big plea to Ant and Dec about what to include. Having been TV gold in its first year, many fans are desperate for more of the Ring My Bell game, with calls for it even to be made into its own show.
