Ant and Dec's Alison Hammond undercover prank goes wrong thanks to creepy hotel

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly have teased how Alison Hammond's cameo on Saturday Night Takeaway didn't exactly go to plan.

The ITV show returns to our screens this weekend with a whole host of new celebrities set to make an appearance on television's happiest ninety minutes of the week!

The latest series of the cheeky show will see cameos from the nation's favourite P.E teacher Joe Wicks and Strictly Come Dancing host Claudia Winkleman, with Alison Hammond and Rylan as the next unwitting victims of their very own Undercovers!

But the Geordie duo's prank on Alison - who is said to be engaged to her secret boyfriend - didn't work out exactly how they planned.

Speaking ahead of the show returning on Saturday, Ant and Dec were quizzed about "not everything going to plan behind the scenes with Alison’s Undercover?!"

"Yes, it was a night in a creepy, old hotel that we set up but she kind of scuppered our plans when she turned up and refused to stay there because it looked too scary!" Dec revealed.

"She got back in the car and said she was going home, so that was going to be a very short Undercover until we managed to manufacture a situation to make for her to stay for a while."

Ant added: "Anything that could go wrong, did go wrong that night. She went to the wrong location to start with, she refused to stay at the location because it felt too creepy; we’d almost done too good a job at making it spooky!"

Stephen Mulhern, Fleur East, Jordan North and Andi Peters will all help hosts Ant and Dec out throughout the series once again, with Stephen putting the boys through a brand new set of high octane Ant vs Dec challenges.

Viewer favourites are back including Ring My Bell, Singalong Live and Win the Ads and there are some brilliant End of the Show Shows planned throughout the series run which as always will amaze and entertain.

Saturday Night Takeaway fans are also in for a real treat this year as the boys have got a special behind the scenes programme airing when the series finishes.

Ant explained: "It’s an exclusive look behind the scenes on Saturday Night Takeaway and it’ll have footage of the ups and downs, the last minute dramas that come with making a weekly live entertainment show and believe me there are lots of dramas that happen behind the scenes on Saturday Night Takeaway.

"We thought now was the right time to lift the curtain a little."

Dec added: "We wanted to give viewers an exclusive access all areas look into the making of the show. It’s a really fun show to work on but it’s not without its challenges so for the first time ever we’ll let the viewers see. You’ll get to watch the whole series and then this special will look back at how we made it.

Fans can't wait for the show to return (ITV)

"We love watching fly on the wall shows like Drive To Survive which goes behind the scenes of F1 so thought it could be really fun to allow the cameras to see how we make Saturday Night Takeaway. I’d love to see Behind The Screens on more entertainment shows..."

As the release date for the new series was confirmed last week, it was also revealed Ant & Dec will have a brand new huge audience giveaway for 2023 and all will be revealed live on air in the first show later this month.

Saturday Night Takeaway also boasts a brand new mini-series for 2023 which is a mystery whodunnit called Murder At Bigwig Manor. Richard Wilson plays the Head of ITV with cameos including Davina McCall, Joel Dommett, Dermot O’Leary, Keith Lemon, AJ Odudu, Judi Love and Stephanie Cole.

*Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaways returns to ITV and ITVX Saturday 25th February at 7pm.
