Ant and Dec reveal 'worst' celebrity interview during SM:TV Live days

Ant and Dec agreed that a certain celebrity gave them their worst interview as they reminisced about one of their earliest presenting gigs.

The Geordie duo have met more than their fair share of celebs over the years as part of their job, from presenting SM:TV Live to fronting Saturday Night Takeaway and I'm A Celeb. But not every famous face was a pleasure to interview the pair revealed when looking back on their SM:TV Live days, which attracted huge names from Jennifer Lopez to Paul McCartney.

Speaking to HuffPost UK, Ant and Dec both named music superstar Christina Aguilera when asked which star stood out in their memory for all the wrong reasons. Ant recalled: "She sat there in her shades, and wouldn’t take them off. It was a pre-recorded interview, because she didn’t want to do it live."

He added: "Everything pointed towards it being a bad interview. And it turned out to be a bad interview."

The pair are back on ITV this weekend as Saturday Night Takeaway returns on February 25 at 7pm. The hilarious feature I'm A Celebrity... Get Out Of Me Ear! will be back starring the likes of Joe Wicks and Claudia Winkleman, while Rylan and Alison Hammond are among the stars who will be the next unwitting victims of their very own undercovers.

Teasing the prank they played on This Morning star Alison, the duo admitted that they were left panicked after the presenter nearly ruined the antics before they had even begun. A clip on BBC's The One Show showed Alison entering a creepy-looking hotel, with Ant and Dec staying in a secret room nearby.

However, Alison was immediately put off by the haunting accommodation, and could be heard saying in a guest room: "A million per cent I'm not staying here." Dec admitted that the presenter's reluctance to stay in the hotel almost caused the prank to go "absolutely haywire."

He revealed: "She got as far as reception and said I'm not staying here. This place is too spooky. We've set the whole place up, and got hidden cameras everywhere."

Ant added: "We had to ring the plant, which was the producer from This Morning, and get her into the restaurant for a drink at least. We then had to ring the driver and just get him away so she didn't have a car to go to. We had to do anything we could to keep her there."

Dec then teased: "That is the one that very nearly didn't happen. It's the closest to falling apart," as Ant added: "There's genuine panic on our faces."
