Ant and Dec forced to step in over ITV Saturday Night Takeaway blunder

Ant and Dec were forced to step in amid a blunder on Saturday Night Takeaway.

The Geordie presenters were back for a whole new series of the ITV weekend show. But during one segment, which Andi Peters was supposed to present, they were forced to take back control.

Andi, who is best known for appearing on This Morning, was on the show to host a competition. But as the camera cut to him joined by Puss in Boots and members of the public it appeared a cat had his tongue and the clip was silent.

The clip continued to play in silence for a few seconds as the studio audience awkwardly laughed. Eventually, it cut back to Ant and Dec in the studio as Ant said: "Obviously we can't hear Andi Peters so here's how you can win." A voiceover played sharing details of the show's competition.

After the details, Dec said: "That's the best I've ever heard Andi Peters." Ant laughed as he said: "Yeah, mute." Fans on Twitter thought it was hilarious and cracked a few jokes of their own.

Thomas said: "We didn't get to hear Andi Peters #SaturdayNightTakeaway." Marie said: "Sound problems live tv #SaturdayNightTakeaway."

Another user said: "@antanddec we can’t hear you Andy Peters! #SaturdayNightTakeaway." Aaron said: "Cat’s got Andi Peters tongue. #SaturdayNightTakeaway."
