Ant and Dec have delighted scores of viewers by revealing the official start date for the new series of Britain's Got Talent.
It's been nearly two years since fans got their last fix of BGT action, with the show's Geordie hosts over the moon that their Golden Buzzer act Jon Courtenay triumphed in the delayed final. Singing comedian Jon tickled the nation's funny bone, as well as pulling on our heartstrings from the opening bars of his first audition to the final lines of his performance, which was all about how the country had rallied during the Covid pandemic.
There was disappointment for all involved last year when ITV pulled the plug on Britain's Got Talent altogether, after the country had been plunged into lockdown again. But now, the show which has been a huge ratings winner since Paul Potts won series one in 2007, is making its long awaited comeback.

Speculation about BGT's start date has been growing since the weekend after Ant confirmed that this week's Saturday Night Takeaway would be the last. BGT has a habit of starting around Easter time and viewers' suspicions that it will again this year have proved to be correct.
Taking to social media on Wednesday night, Ant and Dec shared a post from the BGT account which read: "You're going to want to hear this... BGT IS BACK ON SATURDAY THE 16th APRIL! Join us on @ITV and @WeAreSTV1 where our search for talent begins."
They illustrated the news of BGT's return on Saturday, April 16, with a video that featured a montage of judges and audience members crying as the hosts said: "It's been such a long time since Britain's Got Talent has been on our screens."
Ecstatic fans were swift to react to the news, with one responding: "YES!!!!! BRING IT ON!! " A second told the lads: "Yeah now I am more of a happy camper now. @bgt is back baby yes. Wait before I posts this comment thank you @antanddec for that lovely introduction but is it @stephenmulhern coming back I really miss on BGMT I’m just curious."
