JAIPUR: Former Rajasthan batter Anshu Jain has been appointed as the new head coach of the state's senior men's cricket team for the upcoming 2023-24 domestic season starting with Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy from September 16.
Domestic stalwart from Rajasthan, former seamer Pankaj Singh has been given the role of Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) academy director, sources shared.
Anshu, 43, comes with a vast coaching experience. In the last two seasons, 2021-22 and 2022-23, he coached the Under-25 state team which made it to the semifinals and quarterfinals respectively.
The former right-hand batter's coaching stints also include serving as the assistant coach of the senior Rajasthan team for five consecutive years between 2015 and 2020.
Pankaj, 38, was previously the head coach of Delhi Under-25 team.
The new captain and the squad are expected to be announced by the senior selection committee on Thursday.
Rajasthan is placed in Group D along with Uttrakhand, Vidarbha, Bengal, Maharashtra and Pondicherry. They will open their T20 campaign against Pondicherry in Mohali.
