Another team reportedly emerges as possible landing spot for Bill Belichick

If this really is the end of Bill Belichick with the New England Patriots, one thing is certain: The greatest coach in NFL history won’t be hurting for work in 2024.

Another team has reportedly emerged as a possible landing spot for the legendary coach, if the Patriots make the decision to move on. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Bill Belichick’s name has “come up frequently” in connection with the Atlanta Falcons.

Rapoport wrote on Sunday:

But a loss would drop Atlanta to 1-4 over its final five games of the regular season and ensure a third straight seven-win season, heightening scrutiny on the progress of the football operation at a time when there could be big-name coaches — including Patriots legend Bill Belichick, whose name has come up frequently in connection with Atlanta in conversations with league sources the past week — potentially becoming available.

After three years with the Falcons, Arthur Smith could be on the way out. The team has worked hard to put the pieces in places, but they are 7-9 on the season, even while competing in the NFL’s worst conference.

Perhaps Belichick could be the figurehead needed to help get the Falcons over the hump.

However, there are no certainties the hooded-cladded coaching legend will be leaving New England. He is expected to engage in a series of talks with owner Robert Kraft to ultimately decide the best path forward at the end of the season.
