Another coronavirus case confirmed at Bristol school

A member of staff has tested positive for coronavirus at Bristol Grammar School, and is now self-isolating.

The school have confirmed a positive Covid-19 test at the University Road site.

It comes after a pupil in the Upper Sixth year group at the school tested positive last week.

The pupil, and those that have been in close contact, have been asked to self-isolate.

The school, led by headmaster Jaideep Barot, accommodates 1,336 students aged between four and 18.

A spokesman for the school said: “Bristol Grammar School confirms that a member of its staff has tested positive for Covid-19, and is following the guidelines and protocols as set out by Public Health England.”

Wednesday, October 21, marks the last day of term for the school and most staff will not be returning to the school until Monday, November 2.

More than 50 schools in the Bristol area have confirmed cases since the start of the academic year in September - the full list can be found here.
