Anne Marie’s Favourite Things

Since Anne-Marie made a splash on the UK music scene back in 2015, the Essex-born singer-songwriter has released a steady stream of platinum hits.

Her mood-boosting pop paves the way for catchy belters that stick in your head. Her breakthrough moment featuring on Clean Bandit’s song Rockabye that spent nine weeks at number one paved the way to quick succession of equally popular tracks including 2002, Ciao Adios and Friends with Marshmello.

An amazing voice? Yes, but it doesn’t stop there with the mononymous multi-hyphenate. On top of a newly released album, Therapy and a spot as a coach on The Voice UK, she has unveiled her very first book, You Deserve Better. Anne-Marie has been extremely vocal about her struggles with anxiety and body image and this self-help guide is full of the advice, tips and tricks to treat yourself with love and care.

She has also launched a fashion collaboration with New Look after being named a brand ambassador. Her debut collection is made up of 30 styles including clothing, shoes and accessories adorned with bold zebra prints, playful slogans and flashes of pink – in her signature style.

We caught up with Anne-Marie to find out the items she can’t live without.

What are you up to at the moment?

I’ve just been to FaceGym and now going to the dentist. It’s been really busy lately as I’ve just released my second album Therapy, I’m launching a fashion collab with New Look and I’m preparing to release my first book, You Deserve Better. I’m going to be doing signings for it and I can’t wait to meet everyone!

How would you describe your style and what are your wardrobe staples?

At the moment I have a lot of mini dresses, a lot of oversized t-shirts and sliders. Sparkles and sequins; I’m here for that.

(New Look)

Who is your style inspiration?

Anyone who is expressing themselves through their clothes. From pink mini dresses to punk style, I love it all. It inspires me to be my true, individual self when I see people doing it. Also, a big thing that I’ve learned is that what looks good on others won’t necessarily look good on me. So, I go on my own gut and what I feel confident in now.

What is one item you can’t live without?

Sliders. Socks and sliders lol. Just feel like that’s me. Oh and sunglasses!

How do you treat yourself?

A massage or a new pair of sunglasses.

What’s your favourite song/album of all time?

Jagged Little Pill/A Grand Don’t Come For Free/The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

What’s your beauty routine?

Micellar water make up remover, Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Cloud Cream and Weleda Skin Food.

What are the jewellery pieces always in your rotation?

Gold hoops, the same 10 rings on the same fingers in the same order. OCD much? A bracelet with my nan’s writing on, a couple of necklaces…

What is your advice to budding singers?

Be yourself, be individual to you. Don’t try to be like other people in the industry. Be confident and speak up. It’s your life, so be in control of the music you make, how you look and what you give out to the world.
