Anne Hegerty stunned by Richard Madeley on The Chase

Richard Madeley left Anne Hegerty shocked today at his impressive performance on The Chase.

GMB star Richard appeared on the celebrity version of the show and battled The Governess Anne Hegerty.

Before taking on Anne, Richard told Bradley he was now just "saying yes to things I want to do".

Richard said he was a huge fan of the show and had wanted to be on it for a while, but he wasn't hopeful of success as he said: "I've done quiz shows before and I've never won one, I've always got knocked out."

Richard managed to score an impressive £7,000 in his cash builder and turned to face The Governess.

The This Morning legend had encouraged his fellow teammates to go high and Anne offered him a whopping high offer.

She said: "You said you were going to go high, £76,000."

Richard said: "It's just one extra question so let's just go for it."

Bradley patted him on the back and said: "Yes, good man" he also asked him what Judy had advised him to do and Richard said: "She said 'don't go for the higher figure'."

The head to head was tense but Richard performed well and managed to beat Anne.

He hugged Bradley and his fellow teammates as Anne smiled begrudgingly after her shock and said: "Yes that was very impressive indeed, I couldn't have caught you."

The team played for a huge £90,000 in the final chase and set a target of 19 for Anne to beat, but she beat them with just three seconds to spare.

But each celebrity still took £1,000 home for their chosen charity.

*The Chase continues at 5pm on ITV on Monday
