Nov. 19--The Angels have signed starting pitcher Alex Sanabia, reliever Atahualpa Severino and catchers Charles Cutler and Raywilly Gomez to minor league deals with invitations to spring training, General Manager Jerry Dipoto confirmed Tuesday.
Sanabia, a 26-year-old right-hander, appeared in 28 games for the Miami Marlins from 2010 to 2013, going 3-7 with a 4.88 earned-run average. He went 38-33 with a 4.08 ERA in eight minor league seasons in the Marlins organization.
Severino, a 30-year-old left-hander, went 35-17 with a 3.02 ERA in seven minor league seasons for the Washington and Atlanta organizations, striking out 508 and walking 221 in 485 innings. He appeared in six games for the Nationals in 2011.
Cutler, 28, who can also play outfield and first base, hit .304 with a .394 on-base percentage, .414 slugging percentage, 24 home runs and 224 runs batted in over seven minor league seasons in the St. Louis, Pittsburgh and Chicago Cubs organizations.
Gomez, 24, who can also play third base, hit .283 and threw out 70 of 287 base-stealers (24%) in seven minor league seasons in the Arizona and Philadelphia organizations.
The Angels have also promoted minor league manager Bill Richards from Class-A Burlington, Iowa, to double-A Arkansas.
