Angelino hits back at fan criticism on Instagram after Man City exit

Manchester City defender Angelino has hit back at criticism from a supporter on Instagram and claimed he 'couldn't perform' at the club due to his lack of playing time.

Angelino secured his return to RB Leipzig last week and he will spend the entirety of the 2020/21 season on loan at the Bundesliga club, following his successful stint there last season. Leipzig will have an obligation to finally purchase the Spaniard permanently next summer, providing he makes 12 appearances for them this year but five of those games must come in the latter half of the season.

Although City have once again included a buy-back clause in his contract should he complete a full transfer to Leipzig, it seems likely that Angelino has played his last game for the club.

The Blues re-signed the 23-year-old in a cut-price deal from PSV Einghoven last summer instead of spending big money on a new left-back but he made just 12 appearances before he moved to east Germany on loan in January.

In an exchange in the comment section on one of his photos with a City supporter, Angelino has explained that he struggled at the Etihad due to his lack of game time.

The fan wrote that Angelino 'wasn't good enough' and the left-back responded by writing: "haha great banter...can’t perform playing 1 game a month," which was accompanied with a laughing emoji.

Aneglino played his first game of the new season with the Champions League semi-finalists on Saturday, helping his team to a 3-0 win in the DFB Pokal against Nurnberg.
