Ange Postecoglou sent brutal Spurs sacking warning

Ange Postecoglou has been tipped to become the first Premier League manager to lose his job in the new season.

Louis Saha admits the first boss that comes to his mind when he thinks about the first sacking of the campaign is the Australians.

The new EPL season is still a fortnight away from its kick-off, with Tottenham facing a tricky away game at Brentford for Postecoglou's first outing.

The 57-year-old left Celtic at the start of June and officially took over the reins in North London on July 1. He will become the first Aussie to manage in the Premier League.

It's been a mixed bag on the club's pre-season tour Down Under, with a disappointing defeat to West Ham and then a thumping dished out to Lion City Sailors.

The small matter of resolving Harry Kane's situation also looms over Postecoglou and Daniel Levy at Spurs.

The England striker, 30, has one year left on his current deal and is reportedly unwilling to sign another.

Saha reckons it will all lead to Postecoglou coming under immense pressure at his former club.

He told bettingodds.com: "This is a tough question to answer. I think the Tottenham job is a tough one, and we have seen in the past few years some top managers struggle there. If in the first few games, Spurs don’t start well under Postecoglou I could see him being under a bit of pressure.

"The Kane situation hasn’t been solved and it’s a new manager with a new system so there are a lot of question marks, so he is the first name that’s come to mind when I think of the first sacking.

"It is really hard to predict what’s going to happen and in modern football even if you are a manager of a newly-promoted team and you struggle in the first 10 games you could get sacked which I just don’t think is fair at all, so it is hard to say."

It comes just weeks after punters backed Spurs for the drop under Postecoglou next term.

It was revealed by Betfair that only Luton Town have had more bets placed on them to go down than the North London outfit.

Spurs have been understandably priced at a huge 55/1 to be relegated.

But that unlikelihood of the scenario hasn't put people off gambling on the club losing its prestigious top-flight status under Postecoglou in his debut season as a Premier League manager.
