Andy van der Meyde begs Aston Villa star not to join Everton in bizarre outburst

Aston Villa star Anwar El Ghazi has been warned against a move to Everton by a former Blues star.

Marco Silva and Marcel Brands are set for another busy transfer window as the club look to further improve on their eighth place finish this season.

A number of targets have already been drawn up for a selection of positions across the pitch, but specific names for certain areas of the pitch have not yet become clear.

Everton's attacking options are one area that will have additions brought in over the summer and El Ghazi has been asked about a potential move to Goodison Park in the current transfer window.

The 24-year-old is currently on loan at Aston Villa from Lille, and hinted about his desire to play in the Premier League next season on Dutch TV show VTBL .

The Netherlands international was asked about a potential move to join Brands at Everton - but panel member Andy van der Meyde was adamant he shouldn't do it.

The former Blues spent an eventful four years off the pitch on Merseyside, but his problems affected his relationship with then-manager David Moyes and massively restricted his game time.

And Van der Meyde joked that El Ghazi should listen to him and not follow in his footsteps.

"Don't do it. Don't. Do. It. Everton, what a s*** club," Van der Meyde said .

"Please don’t go to Everton because it would destroy you. Just look at me!"

Van der Meyde made just 24 appearances in all competitions across his time at Goodison Park before making a move to PSV in the summer of 2009.

The former Dutch international now runs his Youtube channel which involves him interviewing footballers in his car.

In a recent chat with Ajax star Dusan Tadic in February, the former Everton man was again asked about his time on Merseyside and gave another candid response.

"In 2003 I moved to Inter, had two years there and then I moved to Everton for four years," he said.

"[It was] S***, ah s***.

"There were only two players who could play football, the rest were just running and kicking the ball. It's unbelievable."
