Andy Murray and Serena Williams learn first Wimbledon mixed doubles opponents

Andy Murray and Serena Williams will play Andreas Mies and Alexa Guarachi in the first round of the mixed doubles at Wimbledon.

Murray is continuing his recovery from hip surgery and will be competing in both the men’s and mixed doubles this year at SW19.

He played mixed doubles at Wimbledon in 2006, teaming up with Kirsten Flipkens, but was knocked out in the second round. Serena also has just one attempt, but won the 1998 title with Max Mirnyi.

The match is expected to be scheduled for Friday, with Murray and men’s partner Pierre-Hugues Herbert due to play on Thursday.

Jamie Murray and Bethanie Mattek-Sands are on the opposite side of the draw, meaning the Murray brothers will only meet if they reach the final. They face Joe Salisbury and Katy Dunne.

British no.4 Jay Clarke, fresh from winning his first singles game at Wimbledon, has partnered up with 15-year-old sensation Cori Guaff, who beat Venus Williams on Monday.

Venus, a six-time doubles winner at Wimbledon, has linked up with fellow American Frances Tiafoe
