Andrew Luck takes out full-page newspaper ad for heartfelt tribute to Colts fans

Andrew Luck’s retirement speech was a touching tribute to Indianapolis and Colts fans. But he didn’t stop there. The former quarterback took out a full-page ad in the Indianapolis Star’s Sunday paper to share a few more thoughts with the city and its sports fans.

Luck’s decision to make this effort for fans is particularly noteworthy after they treated him so poorly amid his retirement decision. Colts fans booed him when the news broke during Indy’s final preseason game. Still, Luck’s love for his fans persists.

“Thank you for an incredible eight years. For welcoming me with open arms,” Luck wrote. “For helping me grow on and off the field. For helping Nicole and I make Indiana our home. And for showing us the true meaning of Hoosier hospitality.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to represent the Colts and the city of Indianapolis on the world’s stage. I can’t wait to see our team take the field and continue the journey.

“I’m proud to be a Midwesterner, a Hoosier, and a Colt.”

Luck finished his six-year career with 23,671 yards with 171 touchdowns and 83 interceptions. He explained he was retiring from the NFL due largely to chronic pain from injuries sustained in football.
