VISAKHAPATNAM: A woman said to the mentally-unsound was arrested after she killed her 37-days-old-son by throwing in a water drum in her home at Narsapuram village under Kasimkota police station limits in Vizag district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Ch Sandhya.
The locals said that Ch Appala Raju married his girlfriend Sandhya, a few years ago against the wishes of their elders. The couple were blessed with a baby boy in October 2021.
Sandhya on Saturday morning claimed that her son went missing and alerted others. Finally, the baby boy was found lifeless in a water drum in the home only.
Sub-inspector of Kasimkota, L Suresh Kumar and his team visited the spot and concluded that someone has killed the boy by dumping into the water drum. The boy’s mother Sandhya confessed that she threw her son into the water drum. The mental condition of Sandhya is not sound. We have registered a case and arrested her for further investigation into the case to ascertain the exact reasons for the death of the baby boy, he added.
