VISAKHAPATNAM: Two people including an aged woman were injured in an explosion caused by a cylinder in Sriharipuram in the early hours of Thursday.
With the impact of the blast, the building collapsed. The injured were identified as A Narayanamma and Burra Naveen.
According to police, a blast rocked the Indira Gandhi Colony in 60th ward of Greater Visakha city when Narayanamma tried to light the stove for making tea. The house has two cylinders. Gas leaked from one of the cylinders.
Unaware of the gas leakage, Narayanamma lit the stove, resulting in a huge blast in the house which collapsed. Narayanamma received around 50% burn injuries while Burra Naveen reportedly received not only burn injuries but also severe back injuries. Malkapuram police registered a case and the investigation is on.
