Andhra Pradesh: Police rescue six-month-old kidnapped boy in Vizag

VISAKHAPATNAM: The Vizag rural police safely rescued a six-month-old boy Arjun from the clutches of the kidnappers from the city on Sunday.

It may be recalled that Arjun was kidnapped by some unidentified persons near Araku weekly market locality under Dumbriguda police station limits in Vizag Agency.

Though the kidnapping incident took place in the wee hours on Friday, it came to light on Saturday night after the parents of the victim boy approached the police.

The police said that a couple Suraj and Jyothi belonging to Sagar locality of Madhya Pradesh, came to Araku along with their boy and relatives a few days ago in search of livelihood. The couple engaged in the manufacture and selling of axes, knives, and few other articles.

When the couple and the child were asleep in a temporary shelter (tent) on Thursday night, the miscreants kidnapped the boy. Though the parents of the boy searched for the missing Arjun on Friday and Saturday, their efforts proved futile.

We have traced the kidnapped boy in Vizag city and rescued the boy by nabbing two people. The boy was reunited with his parents. Our investigation is on to nab a few others in connection with the case, said sub-inspector of Dumbriguda, Santhosh Kumar.

The locals suspect that the culprits kidnapped the child to sell him to a childless couple. However, the police said that their investigation is yet to complete.
