Andhra Pradesh logs 10 fresh Covid-19 cases, tally rises to 49

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh reported 10 new Covid-19 infections on Saturday, taking the total number of cases to 49 while the death toll remained at 4 until now.

Three of the new cases were reported from Guntur district, followed by NTR (two) and one each from Alluri Sitaramaraju, Eluru, Krishna, Tirupati and Visakhapatnam, said an official press release from the Health Department.

"Ten new Covid-19 cases were reported in the state on Saturday... including the new infections, the total number of cases rose to 49," it said, adding that the highest number of cases, 11, were logged in East Godavari district.

Guntur district registered nine cases, YSR Kadapa eight cases, Visakhapatnam (five), NTR (three) and two each in Kakinada, Eluru and Bapatla, among others.

As many as 24 people are undergoing treatment in hospitals while 16 are recuperating at their respective homes under the supervision of doctors.

Until now, five people recovered from the virus and got discharged from hospitals.

Of the four deceased, three belonged to YSR Kadapa district and one was from Kakinada.

Amid rising Covid-19 cases, the Health Department has intensified monitoring across the state and readied beds in hospitals, the press release added.
