VIJAYAWADA: The Andhra Pradesh high court initiated contempt of court proceedings against Gajuwaka tahsildar, M V S Lokeswara Rao, and sentenced him for simple imprisonment for six months along with a fine of Rs 2,000.
The high court bench of Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy heard a contempt petition filed by P Ajay Kumar and P Sunita Devi alleging that the tahsildar violated the interim orders passed by the high court and demolished the compound wall.
The high court had earlier directed the revenue department not to forcefully vacate the petitioners from the land.
The high court held that the acts of tahsildar are clear violations of the court’s directions.
The court directed the tahsildar to appear before judicial registrar of the high court on April 18 and directed the registrar to surrender him to the prison authorities.
