Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launches mobile veterinary clinics

AMARAVATI: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday launched cattle ambulances under the Dr YSR Samchaara Pasu Aarogya Seva (Mobile Ambulatory Veterinary Clinics-MAVC) scheme at Tadepalle. The state government has spared 278 crore to procure dedicated ambulances for cattle. The ambulances will work on the lines of ‘108’ as mobile veterinary clinics. The state government earmarked fund to strengthen the delivery mechanism so as to ensure better accessibility of veterinary services.

About 175 ambulatory vehicles joined the fleet in the first phase. While the state government spent close to 143 crore for the first phase of the programme, it would be procuring another 165 ambulatory vehicles with an outlay of 135 crore in the second phase. “The scheme shows the concern and commitment of chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to provide care to the animals in the state. MAVC will also extend the services just like ‘108’ ambulances. They will reach the door steps of farmers in a matter of minutes with a single phone call in case of any minor mishap,” said animal husbandry minister Dr Sidiri Appala Raju.

He said Dr YSR Mobile Ambulatory Veterinary Clinics were readied with state-of-the-art facilities for livestock healthcare to serve the cattle. He said the government is also responsible for the maintenance of these vehicles to provide essential and quality veterinary services to pets, including dairy cattle in rural as well as urban areas.

Special chief secretary Poonam Malakondaih said about 155 crore has been allocated for maintenance of the vehicles from the total allocated amount of 278 crore for the project.

She explained that Mobile Ambulatory Veterinary Clinics would also provide artificial insemination services in addition to veterinary health services that provide early quality veterinary diagnosis and accurate quality veterinary care on the spot, as well as assess the spread and eradication of veterinary diseases in the area.
