Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directs officials to raise state-owned revenues

VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday asked the officials to find ways to increase the state-owned revenues (SOR). He also told them to study what other states are doing and evolve best practices to increase the SOR.

The chief minister held a review meeting with officials of the revenue earning departments at his Tadepalli camp office, where he told the officials to study various models of having own resources. He also told the officials of the finance and revenue departments to evolve best policies or practices to strengthen the SORs.

He also told them to hold meetings on regular intervals to develop ideas to make the exchequer strong with SOR.

The chief minister wanted district collectors to explore ways to find new and more resources for the state. He also told the officials to focus on solving pending VAT cases to recover arrears. He instructed the officials to expedite the process to start the registration of properties in the village and ward secretariats. He told the collectors to review registration services in existing 51 village and ward secretariats and make necessary changes, if required. He instructed the officials to prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) to remove corruption in village and ward secretariats.

The officials informed the chief minister that the poor were benefited to a tune of ₹ 400.55 crore in the form of free registrations through the one-time settlement (OTS) scheme and another ₹1,230 crore in the form of free registrations of TIDCO houses. The officials further said that the poor have never benefited so much in the form of free registrations in the past.

Deputy chief minister (revenue) Dharmana Krishnadas, deputy chief minister (excise) K Narayana Swamy, several ministers and senior officials were present in the meeting.
