Andersonstown Road crash sees car smash into charity shop

A car has crashed into a shop in West Belfast causing extensive damage.

Emergency services were at the scene for some time on the Andersonstown Road after the collision which also involved a police vehicle.

A PSNI spokeswoman told Belfast Live: “A woman believed to be in her 40s has been taken to hospital following a collision between a PSNI Land Rover and a Kia Sportage on the Andersonstown Road at around 4.50pm this afternoon.

“Following the collision between the two vehicles, the Kia struck the front of a nearby charity shop. The woman’s injuries are not thought to be serious.”

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said they were called to the incident at 4.54pm and sent one emergency crew and two rapid response vehicles. One patient was sent to the Royal Victoria Hospital, they added.

There was a significant number of firefighters at the scene of the incident. A spokesman for the Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said personnel used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a female from the vehicle.
