Ancestors borrowed money once… their children, grandchildren & great-grandchildren paid price for 130 years, until stranger arrived as saviour. Emotional video

A deeply emotional video from Pakistan has gone viral after a foreign humanitarian reportedly helped free a family that had spent nearly 130 years trapped in bonded labour at brick kilns in Punjab’s Kasur region.

The family was allegedly forced into generations of labour after their ancestors took a “peshki” loan, a form of advance payment that often traps vulnerable workers in cycles of debt. Over time, the unpaid debt reportedly continued across generations, leaving the family unable to escape bonded labour.

Humanitarian Aaron Hutchings Shares Emotional Rescue Video

According to reports, Aaron Hutchings, who is associated with Jubilee Campaign, helped rescue the family through the organisation’s anti-slavery efforts.

Hutchings shared a video on Instagram capturing the family’s emotional reaction after they were informed that they were finally free. In the clip, one woman can be seen hugging the humanitarian tightly while breaking down in tears as the family reacted to the life-changing news.

Sharing the video online, Hutchings wrote: “Day 5 (2nd family) – WARNING (tear-jerker moment) – This is what happened when we first walked over to them.”

What Is Jubilee Campaign?

According to its official website, Jubilee Campaign is an organisation focused on promoting human rights and religious liberty around the world. The group also runs campaigns against bonded labour, modern slavery, and human trafficking in several countries.

The rescue has sparked widespread discussion online, with many social media users praising the effort while questioning how bonded labour continues to exist in present-day Pakistan.

Social Media Users React to Viral Pakistan Bonded Labour Video

The emotional clip quickly gained traction online, with users flooding the comments section with praise and support.

One user wrote, “Thank you so much for doing this for my people. I hope I can save enough one day to free at least one slave InshAllah.”

Another commented, “When you pay off someone’s debt and free someone, you write an epic poem without being a poet.”

A third user added, “What a golden heart you have! Your efforts to support these people reflect such a rare and beautiful moment. Stay blessed!”

Others described Hutchings as “selfless” and “inspiring”, while many highlighted the harsh realities of debt bondage and exploitative labour systems that continue to affect vulnerable communities.

Bonded Labour Still Remains a Major Issue

Bonded labour, particularly in brick kiln industries across parts of South Asia, has long been criticised by human rights groups despite laws banning the practice. In many cases, families become trapped in inherited debt cycles, forcing multiple generations into labour with little chance of freedom.

The viral rescue video has once again brought attention to the issue, with many calling for stronger action against modern slavery and exploitative labour practices.
