Analyzing final Vikings injury report for Week 12 vs. Bears

The Minnesota Vikings released their final injury report for Monday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Let’s take a look at what it means for the Vikings.

Friday's injury report

Wm. Glasheen USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin
  • CB Akayleb Evans (calf): Limited
  • TE T.J. Hockenson (ribs): Limited
  • WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring): Limited
  • ILB Brian Asamoah II (ankle): Full
  • QB Jaren Hall (concussion): Full
  • QB Nick Mullens (back): Full

Questionable

  • WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring)
  • CB Akayleb Evans (calf)
  • NT Khyiris Tonga (knee)

Jefferson is a major question mark but The Athletic’s Diana Russini reported on Thanksgiving Day that Jefferson will not play on Monday night. The Vikings don’t have to make a decision until 3 p.m. CST on Monday.

Being questionable is an improvement for Evans, who didn’t practice or play at all last week. It would probably be best for the Vikings to rest Evans ahead of next week’s bye, but they could use him as last week’s game showed how much they missed him.

Tonga is a new one to the list, as he wasn’t listed on the injury report all season. After losing Dean Lowry for the season to a pectoral injury, the lack of depth could be an issue.

Removed from injury report

  • TE T.J. Hockenson (ribs)
  • ILB Brian Asamoah II (ankle)
  • QB Jaren Hall (concussion)
  • QB Nick Mullens (back)

Hockenson and Mullens were both expected to be removed, as they suited up last week.

Asamoah has missed the last four games and it will be interesting if they end up playing him.

The real interesting element is what they do with Hall and Mullens. With Hall having cleared the concussion protocol, will he be the backup or emergency QB?

Injured reserve

  • WR Malik Knowles: The Vikings waived Knowles with an injury and he reverted back to injured reserve after clearing waivers. He is out for the season.
  • LT Oli Udoh: He tore his quadriceps tendon against the Philadelphia Eagles and is out for the season.
  • OLB Marcus Davenport: After injuring his right ankle before week one, Davenport suffered a high ankle sprain against the Chicago Bears and recently had tightrope surgery on it.
  • DE James Lynch: Lynch tore his ACL during the Vikings night practice on August 3rd.
  • ILB William Kwenkeu: He was placed on injured reserve after clearing waivers when the Vikings waived him with an injury designation.
  • WR Justin Jefferson: He injured his hamstring against the Kansas City Chiefs in week five.
  • QB Kirk Cousins: He ruptured his right Achilles tendon against the Green Bay Packers in week eight.
  • RB Cam Akers: He ruptured his Achilles tendon against the Atlanta Falcons in week nine.
  • ILB Jordan Hicks: He suffered a leg injury that developed compartment syndrome against the New Orleans Saints in week 10.
  • DE Dean Lowry: He suffered a pectoral injury against the Denver Broncos in week 11.
