The Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra will join hands with Bangkok City Ballet to present "A Tribute To The Loyal Legacy" in the Main Hall of Thailand Cultural Centre, Ratchadaphisek Road, on Aug 12 at 7.30pm.
A commemorative evening of orchestral music and dance held in tribute to HM Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, the concert will feature celebrated ballet music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Sergei Prokofiev.
The stories and characters of these much-loved works will be brought to life on stage by the RBSO under the baton of Vanich Potavanich and dancers from Bangkok City Ballet, Thailand's leading professional ballet company.
The programme will feature selections from Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker and Swan Lake. Two of the most enduring works in the classical ballet repertoire, the scores reveal the composer's remarkable gift for melody, orchestral colour and emotional storytelling.
The festive enchantment of The Nutcracker will give way to the romance and tragedy of Swan Lake, whose music has captivated audiences worldwide for generations.
The evening will also include Prokofiev's Romeo And Juliet Suite, inspired by Shakespeare's timeless tragedy. Known for its bold rhythms, dramatic contrasts and deeply expressive themes, the music captures both the tenderness of the young lovers and the conflict and heartbreak that define their tragic fate.
By bringing together live orchestral music and ballet, the concert offers audiences an opportunity to experience these familiar masterpieces as complete theatrical works.
